SATISFACTION AND CHALLENGES OF WORKING ON INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS
LIFE IS AN ETERNAL STRUGGLE. HE WHO DARES, HE CAN DO IT. HE WHO KNOWS NO FEAR, GOES FORWARD
In addition to decades of experience in the countries of the Former Yugoslavia, Asia (Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq), and Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Nigeria), experiences and expert engineers are extremely important for the implementation of technologically complex industrial projects which are executed by Energoprojekt Industrija.
On this occasion, we talked to Dragana Janjušević, a Graduate Civil Engineer regarding the challenges of working on complex industrial projects, cooperation and socializing, as well as personal motivation and interests.
From the end of her studies until today she has spent her entire professional journey of development in Energoprojekt Industrija. As a Responsible Designer, until recently she was the Head of Hydrotechnical Bureau. Today she is in the position of Director for project implementation.
For Dragana, each of the projects she was involved on either as a Responsible Designer or as a project manager has left a certain mark and helped her gain valuable experience. Projects are an inexhaustible source of knowledge, challenges and obstacles, but also a source of inspiration. Each one is somewhat different from the previous one, and it provides an opportunity to learn and master something new.
Working on projects also presents constant interaction with people. “There had been many older colleagues from whom one could learn. There are signs along the road, for those who choose to see them”, says Dragana. “From the very first day, I clearly set myself a goal – do your best every day. Nurture your motivation, develop relationships with your colleagues, and be patient. Whatever we enter into, we must be aware that we need to pay a certain price, something has to be given – time, effort, patience, energy…and I tried, studied, listened…”
What is it precisely that kept you in EP Industrija for 16 years? “For those who wish to make progress and learn new skills, stagnation and monotonous atmosphere at the work place will certainly not be a compelling enough reason to stay there. The same applied for me. In the Industrija, everything is but boring and monotonous”, emphasises Dragana. “Additionally, I would single out people I am surrounded by, and with whom I collaborate on a daily basis. The atmosphere in my environment is a very important factor for me, and we have had a great atmosphere for 16 years and have never neglected or underappreciated it. The team in which I work functions as a community, and not a unit in which strengths are measured.”
“My life motto can perhaps best be described in the words of the great military commander Živojin Mišić: „Life is an eternal struggle. He who dares, he can do it. He who knows no fear, goes forward”. Bearing this in mind, Dragana has a message for her young colleagues: “Do not compare yourself to others. As long as you compare your work and your steps with others, you will not feel fulfilled and happy. Commit to your goals! Step out of your comfort zones. You cannot learn without making mistakes, and what you fear is usually not as scary as it seems in your mind.”
“In words of Ivo Andrić: You want a lot, strive boldly far and high, because high goals reveal and multiply the strength within us”, Dragana concludes her message.
