EXECUTION OF CIVIL WORKS ON PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND REHABILITATION OF A ROAD IN UGANDA

 

In Uganda, Energoprojekt Niskogradnja is currently performing the works on the project of rehabilitation and maintenance of Kampala – Jinja Road in the length of 72 km. The contract of value close to USD 22 million, was signed on 23.06.2021. with an important client, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).

The project includes rehabilitation and maintenance of 72 km of the existing road with accompanying drainage works and preparation of the entire vertical and horizontal signage. This contract practically represents a continuation of the previously completed work on the repair of Spear Motors intersectionat Seeta section along Kampala – Mukono Road. Due to the Client’s request not to stop traffic during the execution of works, and since it is one of the busiest travel routes with heaviest traffic within the travel network in Uganda, the works under contract are only performed during the night.

The project includes scarification of the existing courses of road structure, reprocessing of subbase with added crushed stone, construction of a base of crushed aggregate, asphalting, reconstruction of shoulders, repair of the existing holes, casting of concrete tubes (perpendicular and longitudinal culverts) as well as execution of slab culverts.

Completion period under contract is 12 months. Due to change in the scope of work and drastic increasein the quantity of works, Niskogradnja submitted a request for extension of the 12-month period. The works shall be carried out as per the instructions of the Engineer.
