SPORTS HALL IN BESKA

In 2022. Energoprojekt Urbanizam i arhitektura successfully completed a contract for Indija Municipality for preparation of design documentation for the new Sports Hall in Beška.

The contract included preparation of Concept Design with obtainment of location conditions, preparation of Design Development Phase with technical inspection and obtainment of building permit, as well as preparation of Construction Documentation. According to the prepared Concept Design, a free-standing building of rectangular shape was designed with approximate dimensions 56.8m х 37.8m, seating capacity for 440 spectators, with multifunctional hall with a net area of 1,056.25m2. Total developed gross area of the building is 2,723.13m2.

The location for construction of the sports hall is in the central part of the building area of Beska settlement, in Jug Bogdana Street. Apart from the sports hall, the complex with an area of 8,227m2 of land is also provided with a separate building of gas boiler room and underground water tank for hydrant network, parking area with circular internal road, as well as pedestrian areas.

The sports hall is organized as a multifunctional building which provides all necessary spatial conditions for organizing sports competitions, sports training and planning and management of sporting activities, as well as organizing sports preparations and sporting events. Planned facilities within the building will meet the demands of both inhabitants of Beska settlement and students of primary school “Braca Grulovic“ which is situated adjacent to the planned sports complex and currently does not have a sports hall.

The building is a single-floor structure but consists of a lower and upper section, the height of which is determined by its intended use. The higher cube with the height of attic level of 12 meters houses a multifunctional hall intended for volleyball, basketball and handball which requires minimum clear height of 7 meters. Dimensions of the sports court with border are 23m х 44m. A gallery is provided within this cube and houses a café in its largest section wherefrom the activities on the court can also be observed. It also contains toilets and a bar, as well as technical rooms. Below the gallery, there are rooms in service of the hall – changing rooms with bathrooms, changing room for judges and changing room for trainer. The lower parts of the building with attic level of 6 meters accommodate office space, medical room, visitor toilets, room for sports equipment and technical rooms – mechanical, electrical, server room and potable water tank. When the building is seen from Jug Bogdana Street it looks as if the higher cube is emerging from the lower cube.

Hall structure is a steel structure designed as a single-nave hall with 30m span and total length of 44m, whereas the spectator tiers are partly designed as monolithic reinforced concrete structures.

A green area with decorative plants is provided within the complex. All pedestrian areas are accessible for persons with disabilities. Parking is provided on the plot, with a total of 25 parking spaces, out of which two are designated for persons with special needs.

The facility is designed in the spirit of contemporary architecture, in accordance with the principles of environmental protection with implementation of suitable materials and technologies, so that its visual identity also indicates its use and represents a benchmark in the urban environment. The Project was lead by Senior Architect Gordana Petković Veljković.
