WHEN YOU ENJOY YOUR WORK AND SHOW PERSISTENCE AND TENACITY, SUCCESS IS INEVITABLE 3/3
JSC Urbanizam i arhitektura has recorded a growth in contracting and stabilisation of business operations in more than half year. The knowledge and experience of the engineers and technicians of all professions realising the agreed design services through coordinated activities, is crucial for the implementation of signed contracts, as well as for acquisition of the new ones. We asked three colleagues, a structural engineer, an architect and electrical engineer from JSC Urbanizam i arhitektura with considerable experience in design and supervision over the construction of building structures what their experiences were, what working in Energoprojekt provided for them, how they coordinated professional and private obligations and what motivated them.
Vladimir Zivkovic is a master of electrical engineering, field of electrical energy. He completed his master studies in 2011 on the Technical Faculty in Cacak, University in Kragujevac in 2011. He arrived to EP Urbanizam i arhitektura in June of 2019 to the position of senior designer of electrical installations.
During the first years of his work, from volunteering in a small design company, through working in a company which dealt in sale of electrical equipment to working in Germany, Vladimir spent the biggest period working in private company “Tatalovic projekat”. Apart from acquiring knowledge in the field of design, this versatility of positions also helped him to get to know the equipment designed for facilities of various uses. As he says, his professional and personal development were most influenced by Gordana Tatalovic and Dejan Jovasevic, as well as partaking in preparation of electrical designs for hotels and residential buildings for Winter Olympics in Sochi, for office buildings in the business centre of Moscow and large multi-functional complexes in Russia.
He said: “The work I currently perform is only possible thank to Gordana and Dejan, who offered me a chance to work on big projects and strove to pass their knowledge on to me. Five years of working in their company sufficed for my development, growth and transformation both professionally and personally. Apart from them, there is also colleague Biljana Ivkovic. Ever since I started working in EP Urbanizam i arhitektura, Biljana helped me develop electrical design and her advices enabled my further development”.
When asked about the projects he considered the most significant ones he worked on so far, Vladimir replied: “That would certainly be Belgrade Tower within “Belgrade Waterfront” project, Kraljevo Stadium, Kosa Kvart residential complex in Bezanijska Kosa (projects of EP UiA), as well as a few apartment hotels in Russia, Evolution Tower and Luzhki Club in Moscow (designed by “Tatalovic projekat”)”.
Vladimir pays a lot of attention to his own development through attending presentations, professional improvement and cooperation with technical support organised and offered to the designers by renowned manufacturers of electrical equipment (Schneider Electric, Geleh (Philips), Zumtobel, Buck, Schrack…). Of course, there is also the regular following of technical regulations and standards, as well as improvement through work – in the role of technical supervision and in technical review of the design. In addition to this, Vladimir also follows the texts of famous economists and market movement tendencies in order to steer his work and future interests. “My next goal is to pass professional exams in the following period and obtain licences for low voltage systems and electric motor drive which I lack. These are areas I know well and obtainment of these licences is necessary for my further work and advancement”, added Vladimir.
What means the most to Vladimir in EP UiA is independence in design preparation and freedom of decision making allowed and encouraged by this company, but also pleasant environment and working with colleagues with long-standing experience. “The support of the company is the support of the colleagues working with me, flexibility in work, as well as the supportive words of my superiors. And yes, this support is necessary and always present. Since I spend more time in the company then with my loved ones, I believe it is necessary to ensure proper communication, actively listen and develop the best possible relationship with colleagues to create a pleasant environment. I am most productive in such conditions. Work completed early means I can dedicate my time to the things I love and take more free days for the activities that make life meaningful”.
And for Vladimir, the activities that make life meaningful are also travel, playing tennis, chess and many other things. “I’ve loved playing tennis from the first day I stepped on the clay at the courts in Krusevac. I love that feeling of outsmarting, thinking through and winning in the end. There are so many different strokes and tactics that can be employed to beat the opponent, it is only a matter of imagination and inspiration and that is why I play tennis. I am also active in a dance school. That relaxes me and lights up my mood. No matter how busy I get, I never miss these lessons. I always learn something new and have a good time. I adore chess and often play it with friends when we get together. I guess planning a few steps in advance has always been in my blood.”
Finally, Vladimir sent a message to the younger colleagues: “Give yourselves sufficient time to develop what you do, work diligently and you will achieve results. Have faith in yourselves, don’t give up on your goals and dreams”.
